Lucy is an autonomous multi-agent AI system. She doesn't follow scripts or wait for instructions - she decides which specialist agents to deploy, delegates work in parallel, synthesizes their findings, and acts. She's live with 22 agencies managing 420 brands, with 1,300+ more on the waitlist.

The infrastructure challenges are real and don't have playbooks:

• Making non-deterministic systems feel fast and reliable.

• Scaling ephemeral compute for unpredictable workloads.

• Keeping multi-agent coordination performant under load.

• Processing large datasets without blowing up memory or cost.

The Mission

Own the systems Lucy runs on. The architectural decisions you make now - how compute provisions, how agents coordinate, how data streams at scale - will define how we operate at 10x.

What You'll Own

• Design and ship production-grade APIs: versioned, well-documented, with clear contracts, validation, and robust error handling.

• Architect and scale backend services for reliability and performance - autoscaling, caching, circuit breakers, geo distribution.

• Own and optimize our data layer at scale across hundreds of brands.

• Build and maintain the compute infrastructure that lets autonomous agents run fast and reliably.

• Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure across multiple providers.

• Reduce technical debt proactively - simplify data models, refactor critical flows, improve test coverage.

• Build with observability in mind: monitoring, alerting, and incident readiness from day one.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years backend engineering with real infrastructure depth - containers, distributed state, systems that run without human intervention.

• You've operated relational databases and caching layers at scale, not just locally.

• Strong API and systems design instincts: you think about failure modes, reconnection, and idempotency before you ship.

• Hands-on with cloud infrastructure and IaC in production.

• You make good tradeoffs. You know when to pre-warm a container pool versus cold-start, when to buffer versus stream, when to move fast versus build it right.

• You leave codebases cleaner than you found them.

• Experience with agentic AI systems, workflow engines, or container orchestration is a genuine plus.
